Achalasia is a condition in which there is difficulty in eating solid and liquid. It is due to deficiency of the nerve supply to the lower end of esophagus. This condition can be treated both by endoscopy and surgery.

Minimally invasive approach.

If you need surgery for achalasia, typically use laparoscopic techniques, which usually involve less pain and faster recovery than traditional surgery.
Endoscopically symptoms can be alleviated by doing ballon dilatation. This procedure may have to be repeated after some time.

Surgery:

Nowadays this surgery can be performed laparoscopically (minimally invasive method) in which recovery is faster with minimal discomfort. Once endoscopic balloon dilatation is done surgery is little difficult.
